Dear Chirag,

NMDC is a profit-making government owned company involved in Iron & Mineral business. Governmet holds a litle over 98% in the company & there is only about 2% shares in circulation among public/institutions.

The company is in focus from the viewpoint of Union Budget expected in next 1 month. Market participants are expecting Disinvestment in the company by the government.

The company's stock price has witnessed a meteoric rise from Rs.120/- levels in Decoember 2008 to Rs.450/- as on last trading session. A whooping 400% rise in a compressed period of 5 months is almost a vertical rise.

In fact, the stock is barely 15% away from its All-time highs of around Rs.540/- odd. The stock is reasonably over-heated in the near-term and investors should look to enter the stock around a crucial support @Rs.360/-.

However, with the Union Budget slated a month later from now, another last round of 10-20% rise cannot be absolutely ruled out on the back of speculation of disinvstment in this counter. Also, a low floatign among public can sometimes also lead to jacking-up of prices due to lower volumes and supply factor.
